Maja Starakiewicz

Born in 1992 in Tarnów. Graduate of graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, and currently a PhD candidate at the same university. She deals with illustration and graphic design as well as artistic education. She is the author of an activity book for children and the educational program „The train to the story" and co-founder of the group "Dąb i trzcina", with which she created the drawing show „The multiplied mirror" inspired by the „The manuscript found in Zaragoza", among others.


She was the winner along with Jakub Woynarowski of the Ars Quaerendi award granted by the Lesser Poland Voivodeship for outstanding artistic achievements, a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the BWA director in Tarnów and many other awards.


In her works, she most often reaches for literary and historical inspiration, above all from the Mannerism and Baroque period. She is interested in old and modern fantasy and texts from the „mystery tales".
