exhibition of works Szczep Rogate Serc
Art Gallery Off Frame in cooperation with the Paris Galerie Roi Doré invite you to the opening of the exhibition of works by Stanisław Szukalski and the artistic group Szczep Rogate Serce.
Szukalski was a sculptor, graphic artist, painter and writer, and at the same time one of the most controversial figures in the art world of the inter-war period. At the age of 12 he left with his parents to the United States, and a year later he began to attend the Institut of Art in Chicago. At the age of 15, at the instigation of his American professors, he returned to Poland and took up studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. From that time Szukalski divided his time between Poland, France and the United States. In 1929, in Krakow, he founded the artistic group „Szczep Rotate Serce", which brings together artists seeking inspiration in the Slavic roots of Poland. The group, existing until 1936, actively participated in the artistic life of the era, including by publishing his own magazine or organizing numerous exhibitions.
The exhibition will feature, among others, postcards and posters of Stanisław Szukalski and his original drawings, as well as archival documents - the "Atak Kraka" magazine published by "Szukalszczyków" and catalogs from 30th anniversary exhibitions.
Krakow is the first city that visits the exhibition. In the OFF FRAME Gallery it will be available from 21/02/2019 - 06/03/2019.
